Academic Competitions

Academic Bowl

Purpose: Foster a competitive learning spirit.

Activities: Academic Bowl team will participate in countywide and RESA-level competitions.

Geography Bee

Purpose: Enrich student knowledge of world geography through competition.

Advisor(s): Samantha Clark

Activities: A local school competition to establish an AMS student representative to compete in the County Geography Bee competition.

Science Olympiad

Purpose: To create a passion for learning science emphasizing problem-solving aspects of science and the understanding of science concepts and to develop teamwork and cooperative learning strategies among students.

Advisor(s): TBD

Activities: Participate in Science Olympiad tournaments and events.

Spelling Bee

Purpose: Foster spelling skills in students.

Advisor(s):Kevin Waldrup

Activities: A local school competition to establish an AMS student representative to compete in the County Spelling Bee competition.

Arnall Ambassadors

Purpose: Students representing Arnall in the community through volunteer work.

Advisor(s):Dawn Jerrell, Denise Shepherd, Connie Parmer

Activities: Nursing home visits, school beautification, school and community projects.

Art Club

Purpose: Provide an opportunity for interested students to further their interest in art.

Advisor(s):Whitney Garner, Lenore Austin

Activities: We take various field trips to experience various art forms; we create artwork for display at various school events and community activities.

Beta Club

Purpose: Honor students with high academic performance based on grade point average.

Advisor(s):Samantha Clark, Denise Shepherd

Activities: Eligible members participate in an induction ceremony and service projects to benefit the school and community.

Future Georgia Educators

Purpose: To motivate future educators to emphasize the importance of education. Advisor(s):Ashley Hjemvick, Valerie Marshall

Activities: Participate in reading with elementary students, sponsor “Students Helping Other Students” to assist with organization.

Heartbeat Club

Purpose: A student-lead, faith-based club seeking to enrich the school and community.

Advisor(s):Priscilla Letourneau, Brandi Meeks, Whitney Owens, Marie Smallwood, Charlene Morris, Linda Ballard

Activities: We bridge our faiths to enrich, build relationships and meet needs of others. We sponsor Operation Christmas Child. Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:15 AM in the media center.

Jr. Law Enforcement Academy - inactive

Purpose: Cadets learn about civil law, the judicial system, and other subjects related to law enforcement.

Advisor(s):

Activities: Visit local judicial proceedings and participate in meetings with school resource officer.

Knight Writers Club

Purpose: To provide a positive and productive atmosphere for developing student writers to integrate, learn, and grow. Advisor(s):Jennifer Jackson and Lynn Sovik

Activities: We provide an opportunity for promising, young writers to utilize their gifts to further expand writing in poetry, prose and other genres.

Pep Band

Purpose: Opportunity for interested Band Students to perform at events outside of the regular school day.

Advisor(s):Gena Wayne

Activities: Perform at athletic events and other special events during the school year.

Roadrunners Club

Purpose: To provide an opportunity for students and faculty to become physically active after-school to increase their cardiovascular endurance through running.

Advisor(s):Matt Mangum, Tripp Hicks, Whitney Garner

Activities: Run to become more physically inept. Note: Students must complete a Parent Permission Form and a Physical Form in order to participate.

Select Chorus

Purpose: To give chorus students, who are selected through audition, the opportunity to perform for special events.

Advisor(s):Robin White

Activities: Perform at local and community activities (ie. The Atlanta Braves Game, Georgia Governor's Mansion, Arnall’s Diversity Program, GMEA). Opportunities for solos and ensembles to perform at special events, as well.
